Why did we select this book?
We always try to include a peek-a-boo book in the collection. Peek-a-boo books have been shown to stimulate brain development. As the flaps in this board books are lifted, there is a surprise picture and a close-up of the baby featured. That surprise and more intimate look at the baby's face is exciting to babies and makes them want to spend more time with the book.
Related Activities
You can build up the surprise and your baby’s enjoyment of the book by pausing before opening the flap, drawing in your breath like you do before you yell, “Surprise!” and by hugging your baby. Those physical cues will build the excitement of uncovering the hidden picture.
