2019 Raising Readers Annual Report
January 27, 2020 | Annual Report
Raising Readers is excited to share the 2019 Raising Readers Annual Report. This year, we partnered with 1,600 healthcare providers at every hospital and birth center as well as every healthcare center offering well-child care in the state to deliver 157,000 high-quality, developmentally appropriate books to 66,000 Maine babies and children.

The effort to share the love of books and reading with Maine families has been generously funded for over 19 years by the Libra Foundation. The foundation’s investment continues to pay off; once again, an Annie E. Casey study found that nearly 8 in 10 Maine parents and caregivers read to their children four days a week or more, a rate higher than in any other state in the country.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you—parents, grandparents, early literacy advocates, librarians, publishing partners, early childhood educators, healthcare providers, literacy organizations, and community volunteers – for making Maine communities happier and healthier by sharing read-aloud experiences with our youngest citizens.
Happy Reading!
